Soccer for Life programs are in full bloom at The Sports Academy
as trainers guide their teams through intensive workouts and
theme-based training sessions. From dribbling & passing
to positioning & formation participants experience a range of
technical instruction. Teams also have the opportunity to
compete in indoor tournaments suited for their age level and
skill.
This past weekend the U8 Boys - coached by Alex Oryshkevych -
participated in a highly competitive indoor tournament at the
Soccer Coliseum in Teaneck, NJ. Teams travelled from as far
as Brooklyn, NY and the Poconos in Pennsylvania to face their newly
acquainted rivals. Under the team name Soccer for Life the
9-member squad fared well in group play defeating the team from the
Poconos and played to a stalemate against a fierce Brooklyn team
and NASA Manchester United, another team from New Jersey. The
boys of Millburn advanced to the playoffs only to face the ultimate
tournament champion (also from Brooklyn) in the semifinals.
The day concluded in a thrilling 3rd place match against SIU
Premier from New York. Exhausted after playing four games the
squad representing Soccer for Life persevered and took home the
bronze.
Congratulations to Zach Evenchick, Miguel Petricioli, Sidney
Rabinowitz, Tomas Santos, William Waldman, Tommaso Beretta,
Harrison Josloff, William Tokar and Nico Cosereanu.
