Fall 2017 Pre Travel Soccer Clinics and League

 Kindergarten and First Grade

The Soccer for Life Pre Travel Program which includes the Kindergarten and First Grade age groups; are the developmental futures of the SFL Club.

Here starts the pathway to players that wish to eventually tryout for the SFL Club.

The Pre Travel Program was created to offer the youngest players in our club an age appropriateenvironmentwhere theyhavetheopportunitytolearnanddevelopasaplayer.

The Soccer for Life Pre Travel Program provides Kindergarten and 1st Grade soccer players a chance to train and play in a true travel team practice setting.

Participants will be given the opportunity to develop foundational skill sets that will define their game for the rest of their soccer careers.

Players will learn the importance of skill work, fitness, teamwork, communication, and fair play.

Players will reach their maximum potential as individuals and teammates through coaching, competition, training, commitment, sportsmanship, hard work and dedication.

Soccer for Life is dedicated to not only developing quality soccer players but quality individuals.

SFL coaches will instill in the players the importance of hard work, commitment and goal setting while developing confidence, character and self-esteem along the way.

Kindergarten and First Grade players will have the option to train weekly, play in a weekend game or both.

SFL facilitates the K/1st Grade Pre Travel League on Sunday mornings to compliment the training during the week.

Players can only sign up as individuals and will randomly be placed on small sided teams of equal footing.

Clinic Descriptions:

Kindergarten Program

Players will be put into structured practice settings resembling a professional training session they would experience on a travel soccer team. Sessions will focus on the development of individual ball and foot skills, moves, turns, communication words and rules of the game.

First Grade Program

Players will build upon fundamental foundational skill sets through technical development. Trainers will conduct technical and tactical sessions including dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving, heading, communication, formations, defensive techniques, etc.

K/1st Grade Sunday Morning League

The league is co-ed and open to all Kindergarten and First Graders. Players signing up will be strategically placed on teams of equal footing consisting of 6 to 7 players.

Small sided games will be played on Sunday mornings outdoors at The Pingry Elementary School in Short Hills. The games will give players an opportunity to practice and apply what they learned during their weekly training session.

SFL will provide on the field coaching during the game for every player while facilitating and refereeing. The league will be constructed as non-competitive.

We do not keep scores or standings. The league is strictly developmental. All games are held at The Pingry Elementary School in Short Hills on beautifully manicured lined fields and goals.

*New Program**

SFL Club Festival Teams

After properly and fairly being evaluated, accelerated Soccer for Life players that are participating in both the Pre Travel weekly training and the Sunday League may be chosen to join in this new program. Players chosen are completely at the discretion of the SFL Club staff.

To be eligible for the Festival Teams the player must be registered for both the once a week training and the Sunday League.

Futures is specifically designed to provide a modern coaching approach to accelerate the development of young players aged U7 to U12. Players are introduced to innovative curriculums that solidify early skills development and focus on providing players with the support they need to develop confidence, creativity and a passion for the game.

The accelerated training curriculums are instructed by professional coaches and overseen closely by experienced age coordinators and the clubs' Directors of Coaching. Futures uses a "Festival" approach to competition. All games are 4 v 4 or 5v5, which encourages players to be involved in the action and utilize skills acquired. Players participate in multiple games and rotate teams within their age group. The focus is on player development and having fun, not winning.

SFL will closely and continually be evaluating players participating in the Pre Travel Program this Fall.

Talented players may be asked to participate in Festival play. Players invited, have the choice to participate or not. There is an additional cost if you are chosen and choose to participate in the Festivals. Cost is TBD and will be provided, if your player is selected to participate in the program.
